Spring 2 Healthy Pizza

Researching Italian cuisine

Working in small groups, the children looked at different Italian food. They discovered the key ingredients of different dishes, the region the dish originated from, when the dish would typically be eaten and if it had any religious meaning. We discussed the importance of food within Italian culture and which foods they had tried before.

Taste test

Gnocchi, pasta, Parmesan, cherries and tomato purée- the children tasted each Italian item and discussed what the ingredients are and if they likes them or not. They started thinking about what they would include on their pizza.

We devised a survey to find out Year 5’s favourite pizza topping and then worked out the top 5.
