History

The Victorians

Still image for this video
Year 2 went back in time and dressed up as Victorians for the day. We experienced a Victorian school morning writing with slate and a quill pen and ink. We also saw some of the school punishments such as the cane, the basket and the dunces hat. We then washed clothes using a dolly tub, made dolly pegs, baked some scones and homemade lemonade before enjoying these ourselves! We learnt all about our local area, Skelmersdale, and how much it has changed since the Victorians thanks to our visitor, Shirley, from Skelmersdale Heritage Society. Check out the video to see and listen to all that we got up to!

Travel and Transport

Trip to Liverpool!
We got the new train into Liverpool and boarded the ferry across the river Mersey! We then visited the Museum of Liverpool and looked at the history of travel, including steam trains and the first cars! We also saw Victorian houses and what life was like, revisiting our learning from the Victorians!
