Autumn 1 Coastal Landscapes

We looked at some costal landscapes by European artists, discussing the weather, time of day, features of the coast presented in the different works of art and which parts we particularly liked. We then had a class vote for our favourite before discussing why we liked it so much. 

Using viewfinders, we found our favourite part of the landscape paintings, before sketching and painting them ourselves. 

Experimenting with water colours to create the tones and colours of the beach and sea.

After visiting Formby beach, we took photos of our local landscape. We returned to class and, using our techniques, painted our own coastal landscape.
