Enrichment and Cultural Capital
At St. James' Catholic Primary School we are proud to offer a vast range of additional experiences in order to engage the children and enrich our bespoke curriculum. It is essential that we give every opportunity for children to develop their special interests and talents. In turn they grow in character which will help shape their future. During their journey through our school, these enriching activities will build resilience, confidence and independence giving children a thirst for learning. Self-belief and high aspirations are key factors to the future accomplishments of our pupils and that is why we place no limit on their success. The sky is the limit!
Cultural capital is the essential knowledge that children need to prepare them for their future success. Cultural capital gives power. It helps children achieve goals, become successful, and rise up the social ladder without necessarily having wealth or financial capital. It is having assets that give children the desire to aspire and achieve social mobility whatever their starting point. At St. James' we see cultural capital as every child's right. We teach our children to dream with their eyes open and provide them with the knowledge, skills and experiences for them to be able to succeed - ensuring they are never held back.
