Why I am passionate about music education...

Hello! I am Mr. Brammer and I lead music at St. James'. I believe that music is an essential part of a child's holistic development. From a very early age, I have always loved being around music and whilst at university I was living my life as a part-time rock star as a lead singer in a band! I still enjoy playing the guitar at home and in school and am regularly challenged by the children to learn and play new songs in the classroom.

I believe that learning an instrument or singing, or even just listening to or experiencing music – live or recorded – allows us to connect with others, to make music and fulfil a fundamental human need to be creative. It is wonderful for me to see the progression in the children from Early Years right through to Year Six, developing their own love for music.

 

 

At St James’ we engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music. We believe that music is a unique and powerful form of communication that can affect a pupil’s mood and the way that they feel, think and act. Music has many benefits; it can increase listening and concentration skills, self-esteem, confidence, creativity and memory.
