Interventions

At St James', we are committed to ensuring that every child can access and thrive within our bespoke curriculum. We recognise that some pupils may need additional support at different times in their learning journey, and we provide a wide range of targeted interventions to meet individual needs.

Our interventions may include:

  • Literacy and Numeracy Support – small group or 1:1 sessions to build confidence and close gaps in learning.

  • Speech, Language and Communication Support – tailored activities to develop vocabulary, understanding and expressive language from the children's Speech and Language therapists as well as Attention Autism, Early Talk Boost, Lego Therapy and Dyslexia interventions.

  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health Interventions – including nurture groups, Zones of Regulation, wellbeing support, pastoral support, social stories, Compass Bloom and working closely with the Child and Family wellbeing services.

  • Sensory and Physical Support – access to specialist resources from local specialist settings, training for staff on implementing sensory circuits, movement breaks and Occupational Therapy strategies, Physiotherapy programmes for specific needs and the use of sensory aids to support children in class.

  • Adaptive Teaching in Class – personalised approaches, scaffolding, and differentiated resources to support individual progress.

We work closely with families, outside agencies and specialist services to ensure each child receives the right support at the right time. Our aim is for every pupil, regardless of need, to feel included, valued and able to succeed.

Our interventions are closely monitored by the staff delivering them and then overseen by Miss Lee and Miss Nelson.
