Year 6 2025-2026

Who's who in Year Six?

Miss Walsh- Class Teacher

Miss Lunt - TA3

Welcome to the Year 6 class page. Here you will find key information about your child’s learning, experiences and important routines throughout the year.

We offer a full, challenging and bespoke curriculum that is carefully adapted to engage and support all learners. It builds on prior knowledge while preparing children for their SATs, high school and beyond. Wherever possible, we enrich learning through visits, trips, residentials and exciting resources. We also use a range of metacognitive strategies to help children understand how they learn best, ensuring they know more and remember more.

Alongside academic progress, we place a strong emphasis on personal development. We encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence. We actively promote our Gospel values alongside British values, supporting children in becoming thoughtful, responsible and respectful members of society. By nurturing these qualities, we prepare them not only for the next stage of education, but for life beyond the classroom.

Throughout the year, we provide a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities to inspire and nurture children’s individual interests and talents. In addition, we have our exciting residential to Barcelona, February 2026! Information about these will be shared via letters home or on Class Dojo.

Children also have access to high-quality pastoral support when needed. Our Pastoral Lead, Mrs Allan, is highly trained and able to support a wide range of needs, including friendship difficulties, emotional wellbeing and bereavement. We believe that when children feel safe and listened to, they thrive.

We regularly share highlights of our learning on Class Dojo, the school’s Facebook page and our bespoke curriculum page on this website.

Our children are at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud of our open-door policy. We believe that strong relationships with parents and carers are key to supporting progress and achievement. If you have any questions, please speak to us at the end of the day or contact us via Class Dojo.

We hold three parents’ evenings each year and provide both a mid-year and end-of-year report. There will also be opportunities to see your children share their learning during our annual spotlight assembly. In addition, you will be invited to a range of events throughout the year, including the Christmas Carol Concert, Easter Prayer Trail, Summer Fair, our end-of-year Leavers’ Play and Leavers’ Mass.

PE takes place on Mondays (swimming during Autumn and Spring 1) and Fridays (with West Lancashire Sports Partnership). Spelling tests are held every Friday, and children may change their reading books daily, as needed.

We look forward to a fantastic year ahead,
