Pupil Parliament

At St James’, our Pupil Parliament gives children a voice in shaping school life and making a positive difference to our school community. Our parliament is made up of a Prime Minister (PM) and Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) from Year 6, alongside two representatives from each of Years 3, 4 and 5. Together, they represent the views, ideas and interests of pupils across the school.

Our Pupil Parliament takes an active role in promoting pupil voice, organising and leading special events, and working collaboratively with other schools to share ideas and experiences. Members develop their confidence, leadership, teamwork and public-speaking skills as they learn to represent others, listen to different perspectives and turn ideas into meaningful action.

Working alongside relevant members of staff, our parliament identifies ways to improve school life, ensuring that pupils have opportunities to influence decisions and contribute to positive changes for everyone. Through their commitment and enthusiasm, our Pupil Parliament helps to make St James’ a school where every pupil feels heard, valued and empowered to make a difference.
