Before reading the story, the children predicted what the story might be about after looking at the details on the front cover. The children helped to segment and blend the words to create predictions on the board. 

We have also enjoyed using adjectives to describe the characters in the story. We used these adjectives to create a whole class extended sentence using the word 'and'. The children then wrote their own extended sentence, including adjectives to write a description about the characters.
